Gen Moses Ali, Uganda’s 86-year-old Second Deputy Prime Minister, continues to command strong political support in Adjumani West, despite his advanced age and health challenges.
He has successfully retained the NRM party flag for the constituency, defeating several challengers in the primaries. Ali’s enduring popularity is attributed to his historical significance and advocacy for the West Nile region, including calls for more ministerial appointments and compensation for war debts. His campaign has drawn support from notable figures, such as former steeplechase champion Dorcus Inzikuru.
Despite logistical delays during the voting process, Ali’s influence in the region remains unshaken.
