European and Western leaders, led by the UK and joined by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, have pledged to intensify economic and military pressure on Russia in response to its ongoing war in Ukraine.
At a high-profile summit in London, the so-called 'Coalition of the Willing' vowed to expand sanctions on Russian oil and gas, support the rapid use of frozen Russian assets to fund Ukraine, and provide Kyiv with more advanced weaponry, including long-range missiles. Zelenskyy urged the US and allies to broaden sanctions to all Russian oil companies and to help Ukraine manufacture long-range weapons. The coalition emphasized that depriving Russia of energy revenues and increasing Ukraine's military capabilities are key to forcing Moscow into peace talks and preventing a humanitarian disaster this winter.
The summit also highlighted continued Western unity and support for Ukraine as the conflict drags on.
